Mapping and Amplifying Decolonised Design Futures

In this age of the anthropocence – in this complex ‘modern’ world – how might groups understand their pasts and presents as gathering futures that fuse humans with things? A fusion that either adds time or takes it away from being human. In this talk, interdisciplinary designer, strategist and decolonising design member Tristan Schultz will explore decolonial mapping and designing techniques that can help people grapple with these kinds of questions.

About Tristan:
Tristan Schultz is Lecturer and Convenor of Visual Communication Design at Griffith University, Australia. He is an interdisciplinary designer and strategist with a Bachelors degree in Design, a Master of Design Futures with Honours and PhD Candidate. He has worked in the profession across visual communication design, product design, fashion design, event and exhibition design, design writing, design strategy, social innovation, participatory and co-design and more. Whether community engagement, cultural events or commercial practice, creative direction is critically informed and concerned with ecological and social responsibilities. Now his research is focused on using mapping techniques to assist in decolonising design, working at the intersection of Decolonial Thinking, Ontological Design and Sustainability. www.tristanschultz.com
